Get to know me!

Hi, I’m Gené Jolivet — a Chicago-based Graphic Designer with a passion for storytelling through bold, impactful visuals.

I’m currently a senior at the University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in Graphic Design. In Fall 2025, I’ll be returning to UIC to pursue my Master’s in Digital Marketing, further bridging the gap between creativity and strategy.

My journey into design wasn’t a straight path — it was a discovery. I’ve always been a creator at heart — painting, drawing, and designing for others — but I didn’t realize it could be my future until I designed a T-shirt for La Rabida Children’s Hospital’s annual Sickle Cell Walk. At first, it felt like just a fun project for a cause close to me. But seeing a crowd of people wearing my design, united for something bigger, was a turning point. In that moment, I realized design wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about impact, connection, and purpose.

Since then, I’ve been driven to create work that tells stories and builds communities. My focus lies in Brand Identity and Marketing, where I blend creativity with strategy to bring ideas to life. I’ve honed these skills working with the UIC Flames Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, crafting dynamic social media content and helping manage their platforms.

As a freelance graphic designer, I collaborate with brands to shape their identities, ensuring every design leaves a lasting impression. My goal is simple: to create work that not only looks good but also feels meaningful — work that moves people, sparks conversations, and leaves a mark.

Take a look at my portfolio. I hope it speaks to you the way these projects spoke to me.
